The American Aerospace Administration NASA announced the suspension of the contract for the lunar module with Elon Musk’s company due to a lawsuit by Jeff Bezos company Blue Origin, reports Reuters.
NASA signed a contract for the construction of a lander for a mission to the Moon in the amount of $2.9 billion with SpaceX on April 16, choosing the offer of Elon Musk because of the lower cost.
The applications of Blue Origin and Dynetics were rejected, but the companies filed a complaint with the Congressional oversight body, which caused the implementation of the lunar module project to be suspended. The complaint was dismissed at the end of July, but Blue Origin filed a lawsuit.
In this regard, NASA announced the suspension until November 1, the first hearing on the Blue Origin lawsuit will be held on October 14.
Earlier, NASA said that the landing on the moon is postponed due to the unavailability of spacesuits.
We are talking about the spacesuits of the Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit series, which are being developed for the Artemis program, a new human flight to the Moon.
