More than €5 billion raised in aid to Syria

Donors have allocated 5.3 billion euros for the settlement of the Syrian crisis. 3.6 billion euros are subventions for 2021.

At the fifth donor conference Supporting the future of Syria and the region, held on March 29-30 in Brussels, donations were collected for the settlement of the Syrian crisis in the amount of 5.3 billion euros, according to the website of the European Commission.

“Commitments for 5.3 billion euros have been made. 3.6 billion euros are subventions for 2021. 1.7 billion euros for 2022,” said Janez Lenarcic, a member of the European Commission for Crisis Management.

Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria in 2011, the EU has already allocated 24.9 billion euros for humanitarian assistance, stabilization processes, and refugee accommodation.

Meanwhile, Britain has launched an investigation into Bashar al-Assad’s wife.

The investigation was launched at the request of a group of lawyers who believe that Asma al-Assad, being the wife of the president and thus one of the most influential persons in Syria, “ incited terrorism.”
