Police in Colombia has detained more than 430 people during protests that have been taking place in the country for several days. This was announced on Monday by the Minister of National Defense of the South American Republic, Diego Molano.
”We managed to detain 431 people, “ Mola wrote on his Twitter page.
The minister added that 846 people, including 540 police officers, were injured during the protests.
Demonstrations against tax reform have been taking place across Colombia since Wednesday. Riots were reported in Bogota, Cali, Medellin, and other cities. On Friday, the government agreed to make changes to the reform, but the protests continued.
In early May, Colombian President Ivan Duque ordered the military to be sent to cities where protests against tax reform continue, accompanied by vandalism and violations of public order.
