Merkel became the most powerful woman of the year for the tenth time in a row

The three leaders in the rating also included the head of the ECB Christine Lagarde and the newly elected Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris.

According to Forbes magazine, the ranking of the most influential women in the world in 2020 is headed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel. She holds this title for the tenth consecutive year.

According to the rating, the top three also included the head of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, and the newly elected Vice President of the United States under the presidency of Joseph Biden Kamal Harris.

In fourth place was the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

This year, the authors of the rating contributed to it women who have made a great contribution to the fight against the  pandemic. So, in 32nd place was the Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern, and in 37th — the leader of Taiwan Tsai Ing-wen.

The British Queen Elizabeth dropped six positions — in 2020 she took 46th place, while in 2019 it was on the 40th line.

Also in the rating were the singers Rihanna (69th place), Beyonce (72nd place), Taylor Swift (82nd place), actress Reese Witherspoon (92nd place).

“Across all corridors of power, leaders on this year’s 100 Most Powerful Women in the World are facing unprecedented challenges in 2020,” the list’s authors noted.

Previously, Forbes compiled an annual ranking of the highest-earning dead celebrities. The first place was awarded to Michael Jackson.
