The sanctions will target insurance and certification companies working with Russian ships.
US lawmakers have reached an agreement to include additional sanctions on Nord Stream 2 in the defense bill, Bloomberg reported, citing three sources.
According to the publication, the sanctions will be directed against insurance and certification companies that work with Russian courts upon completion of the project.
The sanctions will be included in the 2021 National Defense Law, which is due to be passed by the end of the year.
At the same time, it is specified that the sanctions currently in force will remain.
We will remind you, in October, the US State Department announced the expansion of sanctions against Nord Stream 2. Initially, the sanctions concerned the pipeline-laying vessels. The restrictions now apply to companies that help and finance pipe-laying vessels to upgrade or install equipment.
The Kremlin compared US actions to raiding.
