Mass vaccination against coronavirus begins in the UK

The UK received the first doses of the BioNTech and Pfizer coronavirus vaccine on Saturday 5 December.

The first vaccinations will begin on December 8, according to the Daily Mail, citing a statement by the managing director of the UK National Health Service, Chris Hopson.

The first to be vaccinated will be residents and employees of nursing homes, people over 80, as well as medical staff who treat patients infected with the coronavirus.

Over the next week, the UK is expected to distribute 800,000 doses of vaccines. The authorities hope that “millions more” doses will be delivered to the country before the New Year.
