British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was among the first heads of state and government to receive a call from U.S. President Joseph Biden after taking office.
“Very happy to have a conversation with President Joe Biden on Saturday. I look forward to strengthening our countries’ long-standing partnership as [the U.K. and U.S. economies] make a green sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Johnson wrote Saturday night on his Twitter page.
Biden’s calls to other European leaders were not previously reported. It is known that after taking office, the new White House head held talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Biden took office as President of the United States on January 20.
