American pop singer Britney Spears will be able to hire an influential lawyer Matthew Rosengart, which marks the next stage in the fight for the termination of guardianship. This is reported by The New York Times.
According to the publication, Rosengart, who represented the interests of many Hollywood stars in court, will persistently seek the termination of guardianship.
Earlier it was reported that Spears appeared to Rosengart with a request to represent her interests in court.
Matthew Rosengart has previously worked with Steven Spielberg, Sean Penn, and Ben and Casey Affleck.
Britney Spears ‘ previous lawyer, Sam Ingham, quit after the court rejected her claim to deprive her father of custody.
On June 23, Britney Spears spoke at a meeting of the Los Angeles County Supreme Court via video link with a call to end the long-term guardianship of her father James Spears over her. The singer told the court that she had been subjected to numerous psychiatric examinations and treatment and that her father had traumatized her with his control. According to the 39-year-old artist, her parent punished her for refusing to fulfill his demands, which made her feel “enslaved”.
Also in her testimony, Spears complained about the inability to realize her own desires, for example, to take a break from work, get married, or have a child again. All decisions depended on the guardian.
