In Portugal, the fourth wave of COVID was detected

The head of government stated the need to speed up due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa said that the country is facing the fourth wave of the  pandemic and stated the need to speed up vaccination. This was announced on Tuesday, July 6, according to the JN portal.

“The country is still facing this severe pandemic, we are even facing the fourth wave of this pandemic. And we can’t distract ourselves, we can’t relax, this requires us to really accelerate the vaccination process. A lot of effort will be made over the next few weeks, “ Costa said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 890,571 cases of infection have already been detected in Portugal, 17,117 people have died.

A few days earlier, it was reported that has a record number of COVID cases since February.

Recall that Portugal, due to the pandemic, imposed a curfew from 23:00 in municipalities with a high level of infections. Before that, due to the outbreak, Lisbon was closed for entry and exit.
