The Polish Border Guard Service, together with the Internal Security Agency and the National Police, with the active support of Europol, seized about a hundred firearms during raids against a gang of smugglers who supplied weapons, including to Ukraine.
This was reported on Thursday, June 17, in the press service of Europol, writes “Break News“.
Polish authorities found the weapons during a series of house searches in the Swietokrzyskie and Lodz voivodeships. The charges were brought against 12 suspects — all Polish citizens aged from 32 to 60 years.
The 96 firearms seized include revolvers, pistols, automatic rifles, and light machine guns. As a result of the day of searches, several thousand rounds of ammunition of various calibers and one hand grenade were also confiscated.
In addition, during the searches, cash worth more than 50,000 euros, 14 marijuana plants, and a certain amount of amphetamine were found. The case was conducted in close cooperation with Europol.
The operation comes as part of a broader two-year investigation by the Polish Border Guard Service.
The results have already led to the seizure of about 200 firearms and about 2,700 pieces of ammunition. 15 people — 9 citizens of Ukraine, 1 citizen of Russia, and 5 citizens of Poland — were detained.
