In Latvia, on the day of the Airborne Forces decided to hold a gay parade

In Riga on 2 August, when the Latvian capital traditionally celebrates the Day of the Airborne Forces, the Baltic Pride kicks off — an annual event held alternately in the capitals of the Baltic States in support of the LGBT community. This was reported on the website of the organizer of gay pride.

The event will take place from 2 to 7 August. The central event — the March of Pride — will take place on the last day, August 7th.

“It used to be quite often joked that a gay parade could be allowed only if it was held on the day of the Airborne Forces. (…) On August 2, in the most Russian-speaking city of the Baltics, a gay parade will be held with the slogan “Celebrate with pride”. Good luck! Do not be surprised at anything later and do not say that I did not warn you, ” Marat Kassem, a journalist of the Sputnik agency, wrote in his Telegram channel.

In 2020, Baltic Pride was planned to be held in Tallinn, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers decided to cancel the event.
