In the Cambrai Forest in Brussels, a rally against coronavirus restrictions took place the day before, as a result of which 132 people were detained, AP reported on Sunday, May 2.
Of these, 127 people were subjected to administrative arrests and five to judicial arrest, in particular, for armed resistance, threats, and drug sales. Knives, firecrackers, and smoke bombs were seized during the arrests.
In total, about two thousand people took part in the action. Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. As a result of the clashes, 15 people were injured, including both protesters and police officers.
The Belgian authorities have not yet relaxed quarantine restrictions, unlike neighboring France.
