The authorities have introduced a state of emergency declared in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria due to flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains. This is reported by the public television and radio company of the land of Bavaria br.de.
“There are a lot of landslides, the fire brigade is overloaded, said a representative of the single unified control center in Traunstein,” the newspaper reports.
Berchtesgaden and Bischofswiesen, located in the south-eastern part of Bavaria, were the most affected. Some houses have already been cleared of the consequences of landslides, the population is urged to leave the basements and try to avoid the streets.
In addition, the flood also came to Saxon Switzerland on the border of Germany and the Czech Republic. Railway communication was interrupted, and some settlements were cut off. According to the German authorities, the situation is “ tense, but manageable.”
