Germany sent two planes with doctors to Portugal

Two planes of the German Bundeswehr with a medical team, the necessary equipment, and drugs flew on Tuesday, February 2, to Portugal, which found itself in a difficult situation due to a surge in COVID-19 diseases.

“We are helping our friends in Portugal, who are in a particularly dramatic situation, with German medical personnel and equipment,” said German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer.

We will remind you, a few days ago, the Portuguese Ministry of Health announced a catastrophic situation for an acute shortage of beds for intensive care in the event of a severe course of the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus.

Now in Portugal, there is a rapid increase in the rate of spread of the coronavirus.

According to the Center for Systems Research and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University (USA), more than 726,000 cases of  infection have been officially confirmed in since the start of the pandemic. The death toll from COVID-19 in the country is approaching 13,000, while 43 percent of all reported  infections and 44 percent of deaths occur in January 2021, Portuguese health authorities say.
