Germany recorded first death after re-infection with COVID-19

In Germany, death was recorded for the first time after re-infection with COVID-19 — a 73-year-old man died due to the effects of the coronavirus.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg, the local newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The man died on January 11, but this information was released on Wednesday, January 20.

The Ministry of Health of the federal state said that the man first fell ill with COVID-19 in April last year, and in December the coronavirus test again tested positive.

It is noted that at first, he had no symptoms of the disease for a long time, and a few weeks later he died of pneumonia and sepsis caused by the coronavirus. His wife also contracted the coronavirus again.

It is not yet clear whether they were sick with a common form of COVID-19 or whether we are talking about a mutation.

Recall that due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Germany, strict quarantine was extended until February 14.

We also reported that in Germany, in a hospital located in the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, 35 people fell ill with a new type of coronavirus.
