France, thanks to a nationwide quarantine, has overcome the peak of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is gradually starting to improve.
This was announced by the Minister of Health of France, Olivier Veran, reports Local France.
According to him, “thanks to the quarantine, as in March, the virus begins to circulate less”: the number of new cases of COVID-19 infection and the incidence rate in the country is decreasing.
However, the minister warned that “we have not yet defeated the virus”: it is too early to “declare victory and weaken our efforts.”
Recently, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that quarantine would not be mitigated in France. The country’s tight restrictions are likely to be in effect until the summer of 2021.
