According to Europol, the Irish organized gang is under a scheme to fake coronavirus test results for people traveling between countries.
Bloomberg reports.
Europol has received “intelligence reports of alleged use of a mobile app by organized crime group Rathkeale Rovers, which allows group members to manually falsify test results,” the organization said.
“As long as travel restrictions remain in place due to the pandemic, it is very likely that criminals will seize the opportunity to manufacture and sell fake COVID-19 test results certificates,” the report said.
The warning comes amid “several cases” of false travel certificates being sold to travelers, Europol said.
In particular, we are talking about the falsification of negative test results at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris and about scammers selling fake documents in Britain.
