At a plenary session in Brussels, the European Parliament voted in favor of the EU budget bill for 2021–2027. 548 deputies voted for the document, 81 against, 66 abstained.
“With today’s vote, the European Parliament adopted the historic budget at a historic moment. This lays the foundations for a new beginning: a greener and fairer Europe. The time has come to show political and ideological courage to bring about this radical transformation, ” said European Parliament President David Sassoli.
The budget for the next seven years has been approved in the amount of €1.074 trillion. In addition, the approved budget will also add another €750 billion. They will be allocated from the EU Economic Recovery Fund.
