EU to discuss “Russian military activity around Ukraine”

The situation around Ukraine and the issue of Russia’s alleged “military activity” will be discussed at the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries. This was announced on April 5 by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrel, on Twitter.

Borrel reported on his telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, as well as his concern about “Russian military activity” around Ukraine. This topic, according to Borrel, will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of EU foreign ministers with the participation of Kuleba.

Representatives of Western countries have repeatedly expressed concern about the situation in the Donbas in connection with the statements of the Ukrainian military about Russia’s military buildup along the border with Ukraine. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia is not a party to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, and the movement of Russian troops inside the country does not threaten neighboring states, and therefore cannot be a cause for concern.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on the Settlement in the Donbas, Leonid Kravchuk, demanded that the representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Maya Pirogova, be excluded from the political subgroup.
