Sanctions may be adopted as early as July 12, when a meeting of EU foreign ministers will be held
Ambassadors of the European Union have decided to support the extension of economic sanctions against Russia.
This was reported on Twitter by journalist Rickard Jozwiak.
“The EU ambassadors gave the green light for economic sanctions against Russia, as expected,” he said.
The sanctions are expected to be adopted during a meeting of EU foreign ministers on July 12.
On the eve of the high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell said that the European Union will soon prepare options for new measures against Russia, which will be introduced if Russia continues to violate international rights as its neighboring countries and EU countries.
He also noted that the EU will also prepare possible areas of interaction with Russia on such topics as climate and the environment, health care, and foreign policy issues, as instructed by the summit.
