Estonia's new president elected

The Director of the Estonian National Museum, Alar Karis, was elected president of Estonia in the second round of voting in the parliament.

The candidacy of Karis was supported in the second round by 72 deputies with necessary 68 votes.

It was reported Monday that the Estonian parliament failed to elect the country’s president in the first round of voting. Only one candidate, Alar Karis, was nominated in the first round.
