Emergency EU summit on coronavirus

President of the European Council Charles Michel decided to convene an emergency summit of the heads of state and government of the European Union in the format of a video conference on October 29 to discuss measures to combat the pandemic of the disease caused by the new coronavirus. He announced this on Wednesday on his Twitter.

“I invite the leaders to an informal videoconference on October 29, 2020, on COVID-19,” he wrote.

This will be the third EU summit in October. Despite the fact that the first two meetings of the leaders were not completely devoted to the problem of the pandemic, it occupied one of the main places on their agenda.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, about 40.8 million people have been infected with the coronavirus in the world, over 1.12 million have died.
