Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain came out for the first time in seven months and was criticized for the lack of a mask on her face. It is reported by the British newspaper Metro.
The 94-year-old queen visited the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory at the Proton Down Research Center, accompanied by her grandson, the Duke of Cambridge, William. As part of the visit, she met with military experts working on the case of former GRU officer Sergei Skripal, allegedly poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group in 2018.
The leader of the political organization “Republic”, advocating a change in the form of government, Graham Smith noted that neither she nor William followed precautions in the fight against coronavirus, in particular, members of the royal family were not wearing masks. In his opinion, Her Majesty should set an example for citizens. “This goes against the precautions that everyone should follow. So the palace must find an intelligible explanation, ” the oppositionist said.
It is noted that the Laboratory has tested 48 employees in contact with the royal family. The test results were negative.
Buckingham Palace officials claim that all necessary safety precautions were taken during the visit to the research center. According to them, the members of the royal family strictly followed the recommendations of the laboratory staff.
Royal expert Joe Little emphasizes that with her visit, Elizabeth II made it clear to society that everyday life during a pandemic continues, albeit with minor changes, even if you are 95 years old. “As expected, Her Majesty appeared in good shape and was undoubtedly pleased to be back in the service after a long absence,” says Little.
Earlier, the British historian and biographer Robert Lacey revealed what mistake Elizabeth II made in relation to Meghan Markle. He believes that the queen did not take into account that Markle is the only person in the royal family who made his own fortune and came out of the bottom. In his opinion, Her Majesty needed from the very beginning to discuss with the chosen one of her grandson her expectations, desires, and rules of life in the palace.
