Experts assess the possible results of the next ECB meeting to be held on Thursday. In their opinion, the bank will decide to continue the programs aimed at supporting the European economy.
With regard to the current asset repurchase program, its volume is likely to be increased by 500 billion euros to 1 trillion 850 billion euros.
Christine Lagarde, head of the ECB, as well as other representatives of the regulator have previously repeatedly stated the need for additional measures to help the economy of the region, which is damaged due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, experts believe that following the meeting, the rate will be maintained at the current level.
During the November meeting, the bank did not make any changes to its monetary policy. At the same time, in his statement, it was said that the issue of additional support measures can be resolved at a meeting in December. Instruments can be adjusted after analyzing updated macroeconomic forecasts.
