The Latvian authorities have lifted the curfew on the weekend.
As reported by Leta.lt Instead, there will be increased police work to prevent mass gatherings of people.
So far, the curfew has been in effect from 22:00 to 5:00 on Friday night and Saturday night.
According to Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins, the police will more closely monitor compliance with the restrictions on meetings, border crossings, and quarantine.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated the lifting of the curfew. According to the police, the employees will work less at night, and this will make it possible to save on wages.
Now, on weekends at night, the police employ approximately 30% of the number of employees who worked during the curfew.
As previously reported, from February 11 to 25, Latvia tightened measures aimed at containing the coronavirus pandemic and banned entry for non-essential reasons from all EU countries, the Single Economic Zone, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Recall that in Latvia until January 11, there was a state of emergency caused by the fight against the spread of coronavirus.
