Copenhagen mayor accused of sexual harassment

Copenhagen Mayor Frank Jensen has resigned after being accused of sexual harassment.

This is reported by Reuters and the Copenhagen Post.

During a speech at a press conference, the politician said that he also resigns from the post of deputy head of the Social Democratic Party.

Thus, he actually admitted the facts of harassment and apologized to the injured employees of the mayor’s office.

“I decided to leave the post of mayor so that my party would have enough time to find a replacement for me before the next local elections … I would like to apologize to the women whom I have offended,” said the ex-mayor.

The politician noted that his actions were part of a “harmful” and “old” culture.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen supported Jensen’s decision and said that it was the only right decision in such a situation.
