China’s first marine patrol vessel with a displacement of more than 10,000 tons, the Haixun-09, has been commissioned in Guangzhou, Xinhua News Agency reported on October 3.
According to the agency, the ship was created on the basis of the Huangpu Wenchong shipbuilding company, which is part of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
The new vessel is distinguished by the following characteristics: displacement of 10.7 thousand tons, length — 165 m, width — 20.6 m, design depth — 9.5 m. It is adapted to transport deck helicopters. Able to walk in stormy conditions.
Representatives of “Huangpu Wenchong” call the main functionality of the vessel to carry out refueling and search and rescue operations. It will be used as a platform for PRC participation in the response to maritime emergencies.
