Blinken will attend the US-Russia summit in Geneva

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will be part of the US delegation to the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Russian Leader Vladimir Putin in Geneva. This is stated in a written statement issued on Monday by the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price.

Blinken “will take part in a bilateral meeting between President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva,” the diplomat said.

Price also stressed that Blinken, along with Biden, will visit the UK, where he will participate in the Group of Seven summit in the resort town of Carbis Bay on the Atlantic coast of the Cornwall peninsula.

The Secretary of State will also ” accompany the president to the NATO summit on June 14 and the US – EU summit on June 15, which will be held in Brussels,” the official representative of the US Foreign Ministry said.

As previously reported by the Kremlin and the White House, the meeting between Putin and Biden will take place on June 16 in Geneva. According to the press service of the Russian leader, the presidents will discuss the current state and prospects for further development of bilateral relations, issues of strategic stability, as well as topical issues on the international agenda, including cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and the settlement of regional conflicts. This will be the first personal meeting between Putin and Biden since the latter took office as president of the United States.
