The richest man on the planet earned about $6.7 billion in a week just by selling shares in his own company. Bezos still owns a lot of Amazon stock.
The founder and chief executive of Amazon, the richest man on the planet, Jeff Bezos, sold shares of his company for a total of about $6.7 billion. In total, about 2 million shares were sold in the week from May 3 to May 10.
According to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bezos sold:
1.48 million Amazon shares from May 3 to May 6 for a total of $4.91 billion;
521,936 thousand shares on May 7 and 10, worth $1.7 billion.
This isn’t the first time Bezos has gotten rid of the shares of a company he founded. In 2020, he sold more than $9 billion worth of Amazon stock. At the same time, the billionaire annually invests about a billion dollars in the Blue Origin aerospace project. However, Bezos still owns about 51.7 million shares of Amazon.

Bezos is still the richest man in the world. His fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, is $188 billion.
Recall that Bezos in 2021 plans to leave the post of chief executive officer of Amazon. Bezos has been the CEO of Amazon since its founding in 1995. Under his leadership, the company grew from an ordinary online bookstore to a global retail giant with an annual turnover of $1.7 trillion.
