Due to the continued growth of coronavirus infection, the Belgian authorities decided to expand restrictions: school holidays are extended in the country, shops and service enterprises are closed, no more than one person is allowed to visit, said Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo. On Friday, October 30, The Brussels Times reports.

“We are returning to strict isolation, which has only one goal: to ensure that our health care system does not collapse,” De Cro quotes The Brussels Times.

He stressed that residents of the country need to limit physical contact as much as possible.

The new measures, if their deadline is not specified separately, will enter into force on the evening of November 1 and will last until December 13. In early December, the authorities will assess their effectiveness.

For security reasons, the following rules are introduced:

— no more than one person can be invited. Those who live alone are allowed to receive two people

— all non-essential stores are closing. They will be able to sell their goods through a delivery service. According to local media outlets, shops selling food for people and animals, pharmacies, and newsstands will remain open.
