The first power unit of the Belarusian NPP in the Grodno region was disconnected at 12.57 from the network by the automatic protection of the generator, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported on July 12.
Commenting on the situation at the plant, the industry department explained that ” in accordance with the standard algorithm, the power of the reactor plant was reduced. The radiation situation at the NPP and in the observation zone did not change.”
The reasons for disconnecting the electric generator are being established. After their elimination, the ministry said, the power unit will be put into operation.
By the way, as the SOYUZ previously informed, the leadership of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, responding not so long ago to unfounded criticism of the NPP by European politicians, drew attention to the fact that instead of supporting constructive cooperation in the field of strengthening nuclear and radiation safety, they make loud statements, trying to escalate the situation, labeling Belarus as an unscrupulous participant in the pan-European process.
“Such rhetoric clearly demonstrates the use of double standards and goes against the international principles of partnership,” the branch ministry concluded.
It should be recalled in this regard that the Russian project “NPP-2006” of the new generation 3+was chosen for the construction of the Belarusian NPP. It meets the international requirements and recommendations of the IAEA and is characterized by increased safety characteristics. 36 construction organizations took part in the construction of the Belarusian NPP.
