The missing Indonesian Navy submarine was found off the coast of Bali. It lies at a depth of 850 meters. This is reported by the Xinhua news agency with reference to the headquarters of the Indonesian Navy.
The fate of the crew has not yet been reported. Experts believe that the submarine could have been crushed by the water pressure and even exploded, CNN reports.
The diesel-electric submarine can withstand a depth of up to 500 meters. The Bali sea reaches a depth of more than 1,500 meters.
“It should be taken into account that she sank to the maximum possible depth. This could cause the submarine to explode, “ said Collin Koch, a research fellow at the U.S. Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies.
In his opinion, the crew has already run out of oxygen.
On the eve of the Indonesian authorities said that if the submarine is still intact, the crew has enough air to last until about Saturday morning.
