In Cyprus, from April 26 to May 9, a quarantine regime is introduced, which is characterized by the most stringent restrictions for the entire time of the pandemic. This is the third lockdown: the first was introduced in March 2020, and the second in January of this year.
According to a cabinet decision on Friday, the curfew will be extended by two hours. It will last from 21: 00 to 05: 00. The number of allowed exits from the house or hotel during the day after notification of the Cypriot authorities will be reduced from two to one. The duration of the walk should not exceed three hours. Trips to work, hospitals, and pharmacies are allowed.
From Monday, all industrial stores, theaters, cinemas, hairdressers and beauty salons, gyms, and any additional education centers will be closed. For two weeks, any restaurants and cafes are closed for customers, you can buy food for takeaway or order delivery.
More than 20% of the total number of employees will not be able to work in state institutions, and the rest will have to go to work remotely. In private companies, no more than 25 people can be present at the workplace, and half of them must have a certificate of a negative test result for coronavirus.
No more than 10 people will be able to take part in wedding ceremonies, christenings, and funerals over the next two weeks. Churches will be open for individual prayer.
