50 New Healthcare Billionaires Appear During COVID-19 Pandemic

In 2020, 50 new billionaires have emerged in the healthcare sector during the coronavirus pandemic. Most of them live in China.

Rising stocks in vaccine or medical device companies are also driving new billionaire income.

During the pandemic, the income of the CEO of the German biotechnology company BioNTech Ugur Shahin increased. The company has partnered with Pfizer to develop a coronavirus vaccine that has already been actively used in several countries. Shahin, who owns 17% of BioNTech, has revenues of $4.2 billion.

The head of the American company Moderna, which developed the coronavirus vaccine, Stefan Bansal, has also been added to the number of new billionaires. The publication estimates his income at $4.1 billion.
